Professional and researcher view of Tays Cancer Centre

Tays Cancer Centre is composed of a wide network of actors participating in cancer treatment, uniting the competence of several specialities. Our expertise extends from cancer epidemiology, early discovery and diagnostics to multi- and interdisciplinary cancer treatment all the way to cancer rehabilitation.

Tays Cancer Centre unites the units providing cancer treatment at Tampere University Hospital, cancer research of the University of Tampere, the central hospitals of the Tays special responsibility area, and the teaching and education of Tampere University of Applied Sciences that supports cancer treatment.

Patients and their close relatives are at the centre of operations. Tays Cancer Centre is the second largest cancer centre in Finland and belongs to the Comprehensive Cancer Centre Finland network.

The objective of the cancer centre operations is to

  • ensure the education and training of cancer treatment and research professionals
  • utilise the most recent cancer-related research data in the treatment of patients
  • implement and develop high-quality cancer treatment.
